1. Banning all abortions after 6 weeks of pregnancy
Other (please specify)
The word all is a game changer. While I do not believe in abortion for birth control, I don't feel that I have the right to tell a woman what she can or can not do with her body. Still, there are some cases where an abortion is necessary to save a life.
2. Allowing people under 18 to obtain birth control pills over the counter
Strongly support
3. Enacting policies to reduce West Virginia’s infant and maternal mortality rates
Other (please specify)
I strongly support this, but would have to have some experts to help me understand exactly what policies are needed.
4. Increasing access to health coverage for people 12 months postpartum through Medicaid and CHIP insurance programs
Strongly support
5. Protecting current abortion laws in WV
Strongly Support
6. Expanding access to abortion by reducing harmful laws that restrict access to abortion
As I stated before, I oppose abortion for birth control. I really don't know how easy it is to get an abortion in West Virginia, but I would like to work more toward education and readily available birth control products.
7. Expanding access to comprehensive, inclusive sex education, including sexual violence prevention and LGBTQ inclusivity
Strongly Support
8. Passing pay transparency legislation to help close the wage gap and address racial and gender disparities
Strongly Support
9. Increasing access to birth control for people of all ages
Strongly Support
10. Passing the CROWN Act, prohibiting discrimination based on hairstyles typically associated with race
Strongly Support
11. Providing pregnant people with substance use disorder with resources like prenatal care and substance use disorder treatment instead of facing jail time
Strongly Support
12. Supporting the Fairness Act, a bill to ensure WV state law prohibits discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation and gender identity in employment, housing and public spaces
Strongly Support
13. Which of the following statements comes closest to your own view?
I am personally against abortion, but I don’t believe government should prevent a person from making that decision for themself
14. To fight pay inequity, do you believe people should be able to share pay information with their coworkers without employer retaliation?
Yes
15. Is there anything else you would like to add?
It is too easy to ask for yes or no answers. Life doesn't work like that. We have special circumstances and problems with every decision we make. Anyone can say, I believe everyone should be treated equally, but putting it into practice is a whole new ball game. All we can do is try, and that is something I do everyday. I try my best to be the best person I can. Someone who would make my parents proud to call their son.
